Heart and Stroke Foundation
Heart and Stroke Foundation
An evidence-based organization, Heart & Stroke has worked to promote health, save lives and enhance recovery for people living with or at risk for heart disease and stroke for more than 70 years.
Research is at the core of what we do at Heart & Stroke. We invest in world-class, innovative research across the country to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery.
We empower Canadians to live healthier lives — from preventing and controlling high blood pressure, to healthy eating tips, to getting more physical activity. We also educate people to learn the emergency signs of heart attack, stroke and cardiac arrest, and how to react. And with our health system partners we work to identify gaps in care and collaborate to find effective solutions.
In our advocacy and policy work, we drive change that will create better health for all, such as: strengthening tobacco and vaping legislation; creating heart-safe communities with greater access to AEDs; empowering lay responders with the confidence and skills to do CPR and use an AED if they witness a cardiac arrest; and working with partners to improve access to rehabilitation and recovery services for people with brain injuries such as stroke.
