Our Active Communities Grant Program continues to make waves as access to low-barrier or barrier-free physical activity opportunities become available to more people across the province.
The Active Communities Grant Program provided communities with the resources to make physical activity possible for more people by responding to local community needs. These communities were then able to provide accessible, inclusive and supportive physical activity opportunities.
In Port Hardy, barrier-free swims and skates were first offered from June 2024 to June 2025 with funding from our Active Communities Grant Program. Now, more free swims and skates will be available to residents thanks to a partnership between Port Hardy and the Regional District of Mount Waddington.
