Healthy Living Policy Checklist

□ What plan do you (the candidate) or your party have to increase investment in disease prevention and health promotion?

□ How will you (the candidate) or your party support investments in healthy infrastructure? (supports for communities to build cycling and walking amenities and other recreation facilities)

□ Will you describe ways you (the candidate) or your party plans to support local agriculture or increase access to healthy foods for remote communities and those on low or fixed incomes?

□ How will you (the candidate) or your party support increasing access to affordable housing?

□ What is your (the candidate) or your party’s position on tobacco reduction?  (protection from exposure to second-hand smoke, a plan to target quitting programs to at-risk groups)

□ What is your (the candidate) or your party’s plan for raising the standard of living for those with the lowest incomes?

□ Does the party / candidate support the expansion of parenting and early childhood development programs and quality daycare? (is it universally accessible or targeted to low income children)

□ How would you (the candidate) or your party ensure that at-risk students stay in school and graduate from high school?

□ Will you (the candidate) or your party commit to an action plan with targets and timelines to increase the health of disadvantaged British Coumbians?
